Drowning claims the lives of nearly 3,000 people every year. Although all age groups are represented, children four years old and younger have the highest death rate due to drowning. Most drowning and near-drowning incidents happen when a child falls into a pool or is left alone in the bathtub.

The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter offers aquatic programs through our authorized providers. Classes are held at park, recreation and private facilities throughout the Bay Area. Contact your local aquatic facilities to find Lifeguarding and Swimming classes provided by Red Cross instructors.

If you have program-specific questions, please contact the facility near you offering the class you are interested in taking. If you are an authorized provider of Red Cross aquatics courses and wish to post your class, please contact Lia Brewer, Territory Aquatics Specialist at (925) 603-7407 or email Lia.Brewer@redcross.org
