Home Fire Prevention
Home fires are the No. 1 disaster to which the Red Cross responds – in fact, the Red Cross responds to an average of about one home fire a day in Colorado. But unlike other disasters, most home fires can be prevented.

  • Oct. 6-12, 2013, is Home Fire Prevention Week
  • Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service: Each year, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., local volunteers canvass neighborhoods distributing fire prevention materials.
The Great Shakeout
Millions of people worldwide practice how to Drop, Cover, and Hold On each year during Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills. Think Colorado doesn’t have earthquake risk? Think again! Although Colorado does not rank in the highest risk states, we do have earthquake probability in some communities.

Red Cross Month
March is Red Cross Month! Each March, the U.S. President issues a proclamation calling upon the American public to support the Red Cross by giving blood, volunteering time or donating funds. As part of this awareness campaign, the Red Cross often hosts preparedness trainings for the public.

Colorado Wildfire Preparedness Day of Service
Commit a couple of hours, or the entire day, and watch as your actions positively contribute to reducing your community’s wildfire risk. Grab a friend, your family, or a group of neighbors and join Coloradans throughout the state in making big changes.

National CPR/AED Awareness Week
National CPR and AED Awareness Week is June 1-7 and spotlights how lives can be saved if more Americans know CPR and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
