The Red Cross, in partnership with Americorps Florida, is recruiting AmeriCorps members to begin their term of service with the Palm Beaches -Treasure Coast Region as early as January 1, 2013. The program seeks to utilize skills of youths, seniors, veterans and others serving and educating the diverse population in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties. If selected you will be working in a variety of areas including Disaster Preparedness and Response, Community Outreach and Volunteer Outreach.

Disaster Outreach aggressively seeks opportunities to educate at-risk populations in our region on how to prepare, prevent and respond to emergencies. Community Outreach focuses on recruiting and training new volunteers from within the local community to assist during emergencies and disasters. Volunteer Outreach assists in training and mentoring of existing and new volunteers in various roles related to disaster and emergency preparedness, response and recovery.

Spanish/English or Creole/English bilingual skills preferred. Showing initiative and being a self-starter is important in these positions. Members will receive training in a variety of emergency services skills and serve as part of our Disaster Action Teams. Also, Americorps team members will be planning and conducting additional volunteer projects outside your assigned roles. These additional projects you will do as part of the Americorps team.
