Get Involved

At the Red Cross we are dedicated to our comprehensive Youth Program; serving the needs of young people and assisting them in meeting their individual community needs.

Youth participation in the American Red Cross was officially recognized in 1917 with the formation of the Junior Red Cross which remained strong until the 1970s. The Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region reignited the youth initiative in 1999 to include volunteer opportunities for individuals ages 24 and younger.

The Red Cross realizes that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. We seek to provide youth with challenging and exciting opportunities enhancing skills such as leadership, responsibility, organization, and accountability that will allow them to reach their fullest potential.
