Chapter Mission

The Adams County Chapter of the American Red Cross is an organization of volunteers dedicated to meeting the needs of our neighbors. We provide services in a caring and impartial manner, helping them to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. We provide services that are consistent with the mission of the National American Red Cross.

Where We Are Today

Major milestones in the Chapter's growth have included the Great Flood of 1993 and the collision of a commuter airliner with a private plane in late 1996. The flood resulted in a significant boost in disaster service and preparedness. The Chapter now boasts 20 DSHR (Disaster Services Human Resource) volunteers, who respond to national disasters. These people give up their time and families to help other people in the United States at the time of a disaster.

The Chapter moved to our new modern, accessible, facility February, 2004 at 3000 N 23rd Street, Quincy 62305. The 18,000 sq ft facility is providing the means for the American Red Cross to be more efficient and more effective to serve all people in our jurisdiction. The hundreds of Red Cross Volunteers who deliver programs and services now have adequate workspace, ample parking for Staff, Volunteers, Clients and Customers even those who need handicap accessibility, and the ability to utilize the tools they need to deliver services. We now have a fixed blood collection site in our building. Thursdays: 1:00 - 7:00 pm you may donate blood. In addition every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday we conduct platelet pheresis collections. Appointments are required for pheresis donations. If you are interested, call our office for more information at 217-222-2477 ext. 7311.
