Health and Safety

Red Cross Health and Safety services
Countless people are alive today because of the training that someone received from the Red Cross. From First Aid and CPR training to swimming, lifeguarding, and babysitters training, Red Cross preparedness programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. Our mission is to educate people and save lives.

Partnership opportunities include:

Save-A-Life Saturday
Host a Save-A-Life Saturday training in your community. At Save-A-Life Saturday events, the American Red Cross provides presentations to help you learn crucial, lifesaving skills in disaster preparedness, basic first aid, and hands-only citizen CPR. The classes are non-certified, shortened versions of Red Cross training courses, lasting about 90 minutes and offered multiple times throughout the day.

Babysitting
Sponsor a babysitting course by providing scholarships to students. The Red Cross babysitting course offers the information to prepare youth ages 11-17 to care for children during the absence of the parents or adult guardians. The training helps participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism, basic care, safety, CPR and first aid. Participants also learn how to recognize and respond to emergencies.

Water Safety
Provide water safety and lifeguarding scholarships to youth and adults. Swimming is the most popular summer activity. One of the best ways to help your fellow community members stay safe is to enroll in age-appropriate swim lessons. The American Red Cross provides water safety instruction for all ages and abilities.

First Aid Station
Sponsor a Red Cross First Aid Station at a local event. At Red Cross First Aid Stations trained volunteers serve as emergency responders at large gatherings or community events such as parades, festivals, conventions and sporting events. The first aid stations are also utilized for small gatherings, such as other nonprofit run/walk events. This visible and valuable service to the community saves lives, reduces injuries and alleviates stress on the municipal Emergency Medical System, allowing everyone to enjoy recreational and entertaining events and festivals in South Louisiana.

Training
Organize a health and safety training activities at your place of business. Would you know what to do in a cardiac, breathing or first aid emergency? The right answer could help you save a life. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, our first aid/CPR/AED courses give you the skills to save a life. All course options align with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs and are available in classroom and blended-learning formats.
