Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program

Armed Forces-SAF

As a volunteer nurse on the battlefields of the American Civil War, Clara Barton saw the poor condition of the military troops firsthand. She became known as the “Angel of the Battlefield.” The American Red Cross Southwest Louisiana Chapter today helps service members return home to see their families in a time of emergency. By calling us, you will access a wide variety of services available to military members and their dependents, for emergency and non-emergency situations.

Red Cross Community Resiliency

Community Resiliency

South Louisiana is one of the most at-risk areas for hurricanes. Being prepared is one of the most critical steps in one’s ability to recover from such major disasters. However, studies show that most local residents admit to being largely unprepared for these types of emergency situations. In order to raise public awareness regarding preparing for disasters, the Southwest Louisiana Chapter offers preparedness education, working to create more resilient communities that are better equipped to prepare for and respond to life-threatening disasters.
