Gene Pedrotti, owner of Pedrotti ACE Hardware in Benicia, raised more than $33,000 to support those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Gene recently presented Solano’s Disaster Manager and the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter Disaster Action Team members with a check for $33,214. Pedrotti put on a donation matching campaign from October to December 2012 until the minimum of $10,000 was raised.

“Observing the events following a natural disaster is not only humbling, it begs for help in a variety of ways,” Gene said. “While Benicia may be a small community, I was touched by the outpouring support for our neighbors across the country during this time of great need.”

This is the second time Pedrotti has hosted a campaign in support of the Red Cross, the first campaign raised funds for the 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami relief efforts.
