When disasters strike the American Red Cross provides shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to help individuals and families resume their normal daily activities as quickly as possible. Beyond financial partnerships, many organizations are uniquely positioned to be partners with the American Red Cross in times of disaster.
Your organization could partner with the American Red Cross in Massachusetts in several ways to help those affected by disaster. Find out how your organization or corporation can partner with the Red Cross by contacting the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Disaster Services Department 1-800-564-1234.
Be an American Red Cross Shelter Facility
Provide a facility where the Red Cross can open an emergency shelter for those displaced individuals. This partner opportunity is best suited for faith communities, schools, and other large public buildings.
Be an American Red Cross Warehouse
The American Red Cross uses donated warehouse space to store relief supplies and equipment. We usually seek out a single-floor facility with loading docks and 6,000 to 10,000 square feet of space, depending on need. We use the space temporarily during emergency disaster relief operations.
Be a Relief Organization Partner
If your organization offers services to people who have been affected by disaster the American Red Cross would like to partner with you. This may be in the form of a cooperative understanding or as a member of Massachusetts Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (MAVOAD).
Be a Hotel Vendor
For smaller scale disasters (especially house fires), the American Red Cross contracts with hotels across Massachusetts to provide housing for those displaced. If your hotel property would like to be added to our hotel vendor listings we are continually reviewing our agreements and are always looking to add additional appropriate locations.
Host a Community Disaster Education Session
We offer free disaster education presentations to community groups upon request. Help your group members and their families to be more prepared when disaster strikes. Preparedness presentations are generally 30-45 minutes in duration.
Be a Corporate Volunteer Partner
Our ‘Ready When the Time Comes’ (RWTC) program is an innovative corporate engagement program of the American Red Cross. The purpose is to prepare and train teams of corporate employees to be ready immediately to help in a time of a local, large-scale disaster.
Help us to recruit Red Cross Volunteers
The American Red Cross seeks to recruit and engage volunteers in the mission of the American Red Cross from all areas of our community. Your organization may be able to assist us in promoting Red Cross volunteering or hosting a volunteer training.
Become an In-Kind Donor
Your company may have products that can help the American Red Cross respond to disasters. Donations of appropriate in-kind supplies and services can help the Red Cross increase its assistance to people impacted by disasters. We welcome conversations about whether your donated product can be utilized by the Red Cross of Massachusetts.
