The American Red Cross, Mid-Michigan Chapter is a key humanitarian partner and a vital participant in Michigan’s plans and programs to help people in Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham and Shiawassee counties prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. The Chapter responds to an average of 3 disasters a week – fires, floods, oil spills – and provides immediate humanitarian aid to people affected by these disasters each year.
Between July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013, the Mid-Michigan Chapter responded to 94 disasters, providing immediate humanitarian assistance to 344 residents and first responders. Those incidents ranged from house fires that affected individual families to flooding issues in local neighborhoods.
We trained mid-Michigan residents to be ready with vital life-saving skills, including CPR/AED and first aid. We also provided individuals, families and businesses with preparedness information and skills.
We have a corps of 776-plus volunteers, who enable us to continue to meet the needs of the people we serve throughout mid-Michigan.
