As the American Red Cross Chief Executive Officer – Mississippi Region, Sandra Hodge is responsible for Red Cross services in the State of Mississippi serving more than 2.9 million people. She serves as the face of the Red Cross and leads community resilience programs by working with a state-wide leadership team, staff, volunteers and community partners to ensure communities build capacity to prepare for, prevent, respond and recover from emergencies and disasters.
Hodge began her tenure with the Red Cross in 2011 and in just two years, she led a complete organizational restructure, reengineered disaster services, led a regional expansion to include establishing a State Disaster Operations Center, and upgraded facilities and fleet. More importantly, under her leadership, the Red Cross has successfully raised over $8 million to support mission delivery in Mississippi. In 2011, while navigating the state-wide restructure, Hodge supported the organization’s response to the devastating Clinton tornadoes, the Spring Storms and Mississippi River Flooding and since then several other large scale response efforts.
Prior to coming to the Red Cross, Hodge spent more than 16 years in various leadership roles demonstrating her visionary leadership, management, operations, fundraising, strategic planning, service delivery and community mobilization experience. Her distinguished career in nonprofit management and public administration includes service to: University of Mississippi-Mississippi Building Blocks Program, Mission Mississippi, Enterprise Corporation of the Delta, Tougaloo College, Mississippi Department of Human Services and Jackson State University. During her career, she has successfully raised over $25 million in socially responsible funding supporting human services, community development and economic development.
Hodge has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Jackson State University and a Master’s in Business of Administration in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix. She is a graduate of the Mississippi Economic Development Council Class of 2013 Leadership Mississippi Program. She is a member of the Jackson State University Alumni Association, National Grant Writer’s Association, the National Grants Management Association, the American Marketing Association and the Association for Fundraising Professionals, member of Jackson Rotary Club and the Latin American Business Association (LABA) Advisory Board. She is actively engaged in numerous community service projects and serves in various volunteer capacities for other community nonprofits.
She is the wife of Mr. Julian K. Hodge and they have 2 sons, Byron and DeAngelo.
