The Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces program has provided humanitarian support to the United States military, veterans and their families under the trusted American Red Cross symbol for nearly 130 years. During the holiday season, the Holiday Mail for Heroes project provides local individuals, schools, organizations or companies an opportunity to honor our servicemen and women and share a touch of home. The Red Cross, with help from our supporters, collects the cards and then delivers the cards to military members, veterans and their families serving around the world.
Every year, the American Red Cross Greater St. Louis Region honors individuals who respond heroically to someone in critical need. The Red Cross will host the 2015 Heroes Breakfast, previously named our Lifesaver Awards Breakfast, on March 26, 2015 at The Chase Park Plaza. This signature event recognizes remarkable people from our community who acted courageously out of the pure compassion of their heart. The Red Cross recognizes individuals in the 10 categories, including: Good Samaritan Adult/Youth, Disaster Relief, Firefighter, Law Enforcement, Blood Services, Community Impact, Military, Emergency Medical Assistance and Nurse.
A resource for anyone interested in improving disaster and emergency readiness, the American Red Cross Preparedness Academy will provide information and strategies to advance response and safety plans for businesses, organizations, schools and places of worship. This September, experts will examine an array of preparedness topics. Exhibitors will display a variety of products to make the workplace, home or community building better equipped for disasters.
