  • Nebraska First Aid Team

The American Red Cross First Aid Services Team (FAST) provides one-of-a-kind emergency medical services in Lincoln, NE area. Since 1937, the Red Cross has provided a First Aid Team at University of Nebraska-Lincoln Cornhusker football games. That program has grown to include Husker men's and women's basketball and volleyball games and other community and business events each year. Since 2006, the American Red Cross FAST has been a state licensed basic emergency medical service.

In 2011, 171 Team Members covered 239 events in the area. We were at Memorial Stadium, Devaney Center, the Lied Center, Midget Football, UNL Coliseum, Haymarket Park, Pershing, the Guardians of Freedom Air Show, Lincoln's Uncle Sam Jam and other venues and events in the area. In July of 2010, 130 First Aid Team volunteers provided more than 3,000 hours of volunteer service providing medical support for the Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games. For eight days, they supported meeting the medical needs of 3,000 athletes, 1,000 coaches, 8,000 volunteers, 15,000 family members and thousands of spectators.

The Team is a well trained and well equipped all-volunteer squad. Members include First Aid Volunteers, licensed First Responders, EMT's, Paramedics, and Nurses. The First Aid Services Team is proudly sponsored by BryanLGH Medical System and the Abel Foundation.
