Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation’s premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. Since 1917, the Johnson City Office of the American Red Cross has carried out the Red Cross Mission on a local level.

Disaster Action Team
DAT Members provide emergency relief to families and emergency workers during local or national disasters. They assist at disaster sites or mass care shelters, providing shelter and food. Volunteers should enjoy working with and helping people in crisis from varied economic and ethnic backgrounds.
Volunteer instructors teach lifesaving safety and emergency response skills to individuals in a community setting.
Become a youth volunteer (age 14-18), join the Red Cross club at your school, or ask about the Youth Board. Youth are needed to help develop and implement Red Cross events and community activities.
Service in the Community
The Red Cross partners with area agencies such as ALPS and the LifeCare center to offer volunteer opportunities where you can make a difference.
