The American Red Cross Tennessee Mountain Valley, in partnership with Safety City, has a safety education building for kids located at 165 S. Concord Street Knoxville, TN 37919. The building was built in 2002, thanks to numerous contributions of time and resources from the general community, and is one of only two buildings in Safety City that people can walk into.
Safety City is a miniature city built by the City of Knoxville to educate children about safety measures and to host youth-oriented safety events for the city. Laid out as a series of city blocks with homes, restaurants, and other businesses, Safety City looks like a miniature Knoxville, right down to the Sunsphere replica. As the nation's leader in health and safety education, Red Cross participation in Safety City is a natural fit for the organization. Safety City is also used as a First Aid station for big events such as Halloween and Safety Bike Fairs hosted throughout the year.
