Pet Therapy Program Video

In honor of St. Francis of Assisi and his love of animals, its traditional for churches to perform blessings for pets, to mark the Saints feast day on October 4th. Therapy dogs used by the American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces Station were among the pets getting a special blessing Tuesday, October 2nd, at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland. The therapy dogs are used by Red Cross to engage with patients at Walter Reed, and help them in their recovery. Walter Reed provides medical care and treatment to members of the US military and their families. Both patients and Medical Center staff also brought their pets to the ceremony.
