Thank You for Your Support
2016 was a year of heartbreaking disasters which left hundreds of thousands of people across the country needing help. The American Red Cross provided more assistance to people impacted by disasters this year than in the past two years combined.
We’ve put together this video so you can see your donations at work in 2016.
More than 32,000 Red Crossers responded to 180 significant disasters in 45 states and two U.S. territories. They opened nearly 800 emergency shelters providing 206,000 overnight stays, served more than 4.1 million meals and snacks and distributed more than 2.1 million relief items this year (as of December 4).
We were able to provide this much-needed help thanks to the public’s support. Time after time, disaster after disaster, their donations to Red Cross Disaster Services helped us help people in need. And we need that support to continue providing help to families affected by disasters as we enter 2017.
