Typhoon Haiyan, 100 Days On

Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines on November 8th, 2013. Thousands died and 4 million people were displaced from their homes. 100 days on - the Red Cross, with support of generous donors, has helped over 1 million people. Since the typhoon struck, the American Red Cross has spent or committed $28 million to the relief effort. This money is being used to purchase and distribute relief items such as food, blankets, hygiene kits and mosquito nets, and to provide cash grants that help typhoon survivors address storm-related needs. The American Red Cross continues to work with the Philippine Red Cross, community members, the local government and partner organizations to ensure that its work in the Philippines meets community needs and is sustainable well into the future.
