Kenya Integrated HIV/AIDS Project
Since early 2009, the American Red Cross has worked with the Kenya Red Cross on a comprehensive HIV prevention, care and support project. In the Siaya and Busia districts of western Kenya, we are working to reduce the number of people contracting HIV, decrease the number of HIV -related deaths and improve the quality of life for the chronically ill, including people living with HIV as well as orphans and vulnerable children. At the same time, we aim to improve HIV knowledge at the community level and strengthen the capacity of the Kenya Red Cross in HIV programming. The program is expected to directly assist 16,300 people and indirectly assist more than 39,700 people.
