BASH 2021: The Boot Camp Challenge

"Salute to Service with a Pledge to Prepare"

Thank you for participating in the Boot Camp Challenge! See below for our four-week boot camp of safety drills to help you, your family, and your business prepare for emergencies.
Week One: Home Fire Safety

Home fires claim seven lives every day, but you can help change that! 

  • Learn about our Sound the Alarm initiative and submit a virtual Pledge to Prepare.
  • Download a home fire escape plan worksheet and practice your 2-minute drill.
  • Test your smoke alarms.
Week 2: Make A Kit
Week 2: Make A Kit

Being prepared means being equipped with the proper supplies you may need in the event of an emergency or disaster. 

  • Learn about Emergency Preparedness and test your knowledge about what should be included in your emergency preparedness kit.
  • Review our A-Z Quick Guide and start gathering emergency supplies from around your home. You will be surprised at how much you already have!
  • Find an easy to carry container (plastic bag, bucket, backpack, or pillowcase) and store enough supplies for everyone in your household.
Week 3: Wildfire Preparedness
Week 3: Wildfire Preparedness

Wildfires often begin unnoticed and they spread quickly, igniting brush, trees, and homes. In a wildfire, every second counts! 

  • Read about wildfire safety and learn how to keep your family and home safe.
  • Download the American Red Cross Family Disaster Plan PDF template and fill in the fields with the appropriate information. Identify responsibilities for each member of your household and how you will work together as a team.
  • Practice as many elements of your plan so your family will know what to do in a moment’s notice. 
Week Four: Hands Only CPR
Week Four: Hands Only CPR

Many people who survive a cardiac emergency are helped by a bystander. It’s important to know how to perform Hands-Only CPR so you can deliver life-saving care until professional responders arrive.
