As a registered guest of this year's BASH, you are invited to participate in our four-week Boot Camp Challenge. Once a week, we’ll announce a different safety drill to help you and your family prepare for emergencies.
Week 2: Make A Kit
Being prepared means being equipped with the proper supplies you may need in the event of an emergency or disaster. This weekend, we challenge you to complete 3 simple steps:
Learn about Emergency Preparedness and test your knowledge about what should be included in your emergency preparedness kit.
Review our A-Z Quick Guide and start gathering emergency supplies from around your home. You will be surprised at how much you already have!
Find an easy to carry container (plastic bag, bucket, backpack, or pillowcase) and store enough supplies for everyone in your household.
Two basic types of preparedness kits:
Personal Kit: Three days of supplies for one person. Keep a kit at home, in your car, and at work.
Mini-Kits: for your bedroom, office or car.
Also, keep a sturdy pair of shoes, a flashlight, and an extra pair of glasses (if you wear them) in a bag attached to the foot of your headboard. If an emergency strikes at night, you’ll be able to walk across debris and see where you’re going!
SHARE THE LOVE
Post a photo of you and your emergency preparedness kit on social media and include #BASHBCCand #PrepareCalGC for a chance to win a prize from the CA Gold Country Region of the American Red Cross.
Winners and prizes will be announced during our virtual event on May 22nd!
Emergency Contact Cards:
Print one card for each family member.
Write the contact information for each household member, such as work, school and cell phone numbers.
Fold the card so it fits in your pocket, wallet or purse.
Carry the card with you so it is available in the event of a disaster or other emergency.
NOTE: The entire four-week Boot Camp Challenge will be available for all registered guests. You can go back and review content at any point and you are also encouraged to participate in each week’s “share the love” challenge to compete for prizes. Winners and prizes will be announced at our virtual event on May 22nd.
