Daniel Morales brings years of dedication, mentorship and service to his role, helping create meaningful experiences for youth and volunteers alike.
As Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 kicks off, the American Red Cross proudly recognizes Daniel Morales, a dedicated leader, mentor and volunteer whose commitment to service has influenced hundreds of lives across the Los Angeles Region. Through preparedness education, youth engagement and leadership development, Morales has helped build stronger communities while inspiring the next generation of Red Cross volunteers.
Morales first became involved with the Red Cross as a teenager through a youth-led puppet show designed to teach young children about disaster preparedness. What began as a single volunteer opportunity quickly became a years-long commitment to serving others and helping build a welcoming environment for future volunteers.
“I joined the Red Cross looking for a community of individuals focused on helping others, regardless of who they are,” Morales said. “The youth volunteers created an inclusive, uplifting atmosphere that made me feel at home.”
Inspired by fellow volunteers and motivated by a desire to give back, Morales embraced increasingly larger leadership roles. He served on the Youth Executive Board for the Greater Long Beach Chapter, where he helped lead preparedness initiatives, support local Red Cross clubs and create meaningful service opportunities for other young people.
While his contributions have benefited countless community members, Morales is especially proud of the impact he has had on fellow youth volunteers. Through mentorship and leadership development, he has helped create pathways for young people to build confidence, develop public speaking skills and discover their own passion for service.
One of his most significant achievements came through Leadership Development Camp, a signature Red Cross program that teaches leadership skills to high school students. In 2025, Morales served as camp director, overseeing months of planning, training and collaboration to deliver the weeklong experience.
The program's success reflected Morales' belief that investing in young leaders creates a ripple effect that extends far beyond a single event. The students he has mentored and encouraged will go on to lead projects, educate their peers and serve their own communities, multiplying the impact of his efforts.
Throughout his Red Cross journey, Morales has also played a role in preparedness outreach efforts, helping educate community members about emergency readiness through activities ranging from youth education programs to Sound the Alarm events. Whether speaking with children, families or fellow volunteers, he views every interaction as an opportunity to empower others with knowledge and resources that can help save lives.
As he looks toward the future, Morales plans to remain actively involved with the Red Cross, continuing to support Leadership Development Camp and other volunteer initiatives that strengthen communities and develop future leaders.
“Every opportunity with the Red Cross can help in ways you wouldn’t even be able to imagine” Morales shared. “The opportunities are endless and the memories made are priceless.
Through his leadership, philanthropy and commitment to helping others, Daniel Morales embodies the spirit of service celebrated during Hispanic Heritage Month. His legacy is reflected not only in the communities he has supported, but also in the many volunteers he has inspired to follow in his footsteps.
