Spread holiday cheer this season by sending messages of support and thanks to service members, veterans and military families through the American Red Cross Holidays for Heroes program. We’re accepting cards and large banners that will be distributed to service members and families near and far.
This season’s Holidays for Heroes campaign will kick off on Sunday, November 11, at the annual Holidays for Heroes card making event in Balboa Park at the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event is open to the public and all card making materials will be provided. For those who cannot attend this event, cards and banners will be accepted at the local Red Cross headquarters through Monday, December 3. Please see below for card and banner making tips as well as delivery instructions.
Card and banner making is fun and easy. Families, schools, Boy and Girl Scout Troops, libraries and local businesses have all participated in this unique program, and many community members choose to host card and banner making events with friends, neighbors, or colleagues.
Cards and banners will be delivered to military units, family groups, military and veteran hospitals, and veteran organizations throughout our region. Some banners may be delivered to overseas installations and Red Cross stations.
