SAN DIEGO – December 14, 2018 — With the completion of the immediate response to flooding caused by last week’s rainstorms, the local Red Cross plans to close the shelter at the Paradise Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church in National City at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 15.
Any individuals affected by this flooding can go to the Red Cross shelter up until closing or call the American Red Cross Disaster Dispatch at (855) 891-7325.
Since requested by authorities, the local Red Cross has provided 164 overnight stays. Red Cross shelters provide a safe place for people to stay, meals, snacks, comfort kits, health services, emotional support and more readily available for all those displaced.
Red Cross caseworkers will continue to work with families affected by this disaster, providing referrals, resources and more.
We continue to work closely with our local partners and emergency management officials to coordinate recovery efforts moving forward. Trained Red Cross volunteers and staff are on call round-the-clock and ready to assist in various aspects including sheltering, feeding, disaster assessment, casework, and more.
