Palm Beach, Fla. (February 13, 2023) — The Palm Beach & Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross will host its highly anticipated 62nd International Red Cross Ball on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at The Breakers Palm Beach. After not being held for the past three years due to the pandemic, a record number of foreign ambassadors and former US ambassadors are planning to attend the eloquent and historic Palm Beach event, with Ball Chairmen Charles and Amanda Schumacher leading the charge.
“I am proud to be the Chairmen of the 62nd Annual International Red Cross Ball because the Red Cross represents hope around the globe. The importance of the Red Cross mission is evident with many Florida families that are still recovering from Hurricanes Ian and Nicole with the help of the Red Cross,” said Amanda Schumacher, International Red Cross Ball Chairman. “Without the immediate life-saving aid provided to storm survivors and continued long-term support supplied by thousands of Red Cross-trained staff and volunteers, many would still be struggling today.”
The memorable evening will also proudly celebrate the work of the American Red Cross and its historic partnership with the U.S. Armed Forces with keynote speaker Retired General Richard “Dick” Cody. The Red Cross serves two million military personnel as well as our veterans by providing 24/7 global emergency communication services and supporting military and veteran healthcare facilities across the country and around the world. In addition, the Red Cross helps families cope with deployments and supports returning combat veterans as they reintegrate into the community.
"The 62nd International Red Cross Ball will celebrate the mission of the American Red Cross locally, nationally and around the globe. As such, we are proud to host more than 40 foreign ambassadors, former US ambassadors and other dignitaries from nearly all continents around the world,“ said Eric Roby, American Red Cross Palm Beach and Treasure Coast Chapter executive director. "I am thankful for all of the support from the Ball Committee and sponsors as the evening is shaping up to be a historic night for what is traditionally one of the most prestigious events held during the Palm Beach social season."
The 62nd International Red Cross Ball Chairmen include Chairmen Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schumacher, Co-Chairmen Mrs. Robert T. Butler, Ambassador David Fischer and Mrs. Jennifer Fischer and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Fischer. Ambassador Chairmen include Ambassador Mary Ourisman-Dawkins and Retired Brigadier General Peter Dawkins and Ambassador Lana Marks & Dr. Neville Marks.
