American Red Cross Volunteer from Quad Cities Headed to Georgia to Help Storm Victims
MOLINE, IL, January 23, 2017--The American Red Cross is on the ground providing shelter, food, relief supplies and other support to help people across the country after a tumultuous weekend of severe weather. Dozens of tornadoes and severe weather left a path of destruction in areas of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas and Florida over the weekend. In addition, southern California has been hit with another storm, bringing heavy rains, increased risk for landslides and leaving thousands without power.
Sandra Keller, a Red Cross volunteer from the Quad Cities area, is deploying to Georgia to assist with the Red Cross disaster response. Sandra is a trained mental health volunteer and will be part of the health services team providing support to those affected by the devastating storms. This is Sandra’s first disaster deployment with the Red Cross.
Sandra joined the Red Cross as a volunteer in March of 2016 and in addition to helping with disaster response, Sandra serves as a Red Cross Community Outreach Volunteer working with our military members and their families. Sandra’s husband, Ken Keller, has been a Red Cross volunteer since 2010.
