Donna has been a volunteer with the American Red Cross since January 2016. During her time with us, she has logged over 7,100 on-call and worked hours. Donna got involved because she saw that there was a gap in the support of her community during local disaster response. Already a part of the CCMICU and the Charles County Dive Team, Donna joined the American Red Cross to provide additional support. Furthermore, throughout Donna’s time with the Red Cross, there has been much change in terms of systems and personnel to adapt to. This was not a deterrent for her, though, as she saw an opportunity to lead and organize the Charles County DAT Team - even with inconsistent communication and instruction/personnel turnover. Since Donna has taken the reigns as the Charles County DAT leader, she has recruited and trained additional volunteers, mostly from the CCMICU, to work on the DAT program with her. She has built an extremely passionate team and likes to point out that her team “has never missed a call.
