The need for blood is constant. In Vermont and New Hampshire, the Red Cross depends on our bloodmobile to collect nearly 10 percent of our blood donations. But our bloodmobile is aging, and we need to raise money to have new vehicles built.
Red Cross Blood Services vehicles are on the road every day and are vital to our collection operations. The bloodmobile travels more than 16,000 miles per year to 250 mobile drives. Our current vehicle is 15 years old and suffers from many mechanical troubles, forcing some blood drives to be cancelled.
The new bloodmobiles for Vermont and New Hampshire will cost $375,000 each. We’re counting on individuals and corporations to ensure that we can collect and safely transport blood from generous donors. Those vital blood products go to patients in need right here in Vermont and New Hampshire.
