The Red Cross of Northeast Ohio, then known as the Greater Cleveland Chapter began installing smoke alarms with the support of the Cleveland Fire Department in 1992. Since then, the American Red Cross has established the nationwide Home Fire Campaign, meant to reduce the number of deaths due to home fires across the country. The Red Cross seeks financial support to purchase the supplies, and we work with local fire departments and volunteers to install the alarms, check batteries, and help residents develop escape plans.
