The event will feature keynote speaker, Major General, retired Terry M. Haston, the 75th Adjutant General of the Tennessee National Guard. He is a decorated army general with awards for Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Army Commendation Medal (with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters) to name just a few. He will address the luncheon to speak of his stories from the field and about the American Red Cross.
Hap Harwell will be honored with the Humanitarian Award for his work in humanitarian efforts which include the Red Cross, Goodwill, and the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults. He is a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga and was appointed by Gov. Winfield Dunn to serve on the Tennessee/Georgia Health Care Commission for five years.
The event will honor seven other local heroes who have contributed to their community through extraordinary ways. They are:
- Allen Green – Service to Youth Honoree
- Ann Marie Fitzsimmons and Niki Keck – Call to Action Honorees
- Becky Perkins – First Responder Honoree
- Phil Garver – Service to Armed Forces Honoree
- Jim Fox and Johnny Hale – Medical/Hospital Honorees
