Certification

Red Cross courses offer Digital Certification, an online version of a Red Cross certificate, which provides anytime, anywhere access to student training history and course certificates. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your Red Cross Account. Each certificate includes a unique ID and a QR code which meets employment requirements and allows employers to easily confirm your certificate is valid. There is no need to carry your printed certificate around anymore!

CEUs

The American Red Cross provides Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at no cost for certain classes taken by individuals who have requirements to maintain a professional license or certification.

The American Red Cross is an approved as an Accredited Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Courses eligible for CEUs will have the CEUs awarded and contact hours printed on the lower, left hand corner of the 8½ X 11” digital certificate. Digital certificates may be accessed at www.redcross.org/take-a-class/digital-certificate.

Course participants should consult with their respective licensing/accrediting agencies to make sure IACET CEUs meet their continuing education requirements.

Please note:
  • Challenge courses are not eligible for CEUs.
  • A course is not eligible for CEUs if “0” CEUs awarded and “0” contact hours appear on a digital certificate.
  • The IACET standard is that 10 contact hours equals 1 CEU. For example, the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course is 4.5 contact hours or 0.5 CEUs. However, some licensing/accreditation organizations may have a standard that 1 contact hour equals 1 CEU. Customers should check with their licensing/accreditation organizations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great class I just wanted a refresher course so this worked perfectly, I couldn’t find any on my area so I went to Concord and stayed with a friend. My only suggestion is that if a class doesn’t have an online component to the class not to send an automatic email, that was very confusing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from knowledgeable instructor, equipment needs updating Our instructor was helpful and knowledgeable, but was not given all of the proper and up to date equipment needed to teach the class. She had vocalized that she had already addressed these issues with the American Red Cross.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from At least i learned 30/2.... This class could have been taught in 20 minutes. It was a huge waste of time. Also, the teacher was ridiculous. His advice and examples were so bad that I even doubt some of the veracity of his statements. At one point, when a student asked what to do if we are in a situation when someone is performing CPR incorrectly, the teacher said he would "kick them out of the way because he wants to save a life." (Not an exact quote, but he did say he would kick the other person to get them off the victim). At least I learned CPR and got the certificate I needed. The slides and dummies were helpful.
