CEUs

The American Red Cross provides Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at no cost for certain classes taken by individuals who have requirements to maintain a professional license or certification.

The American Red Cross is an approved as an Accredited Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Courses eligible for CEUs will have the CEUs awarded and contact hours printed on the lower, left hand corner of the 8½ X 11” digital certificate. Digital certificates may be accessed at www.redcross.org/take-a-class/digital-certificate.

Course participants should consult with their respective licensing/accrediting agencies to make sure IACET CEUs meet their continuing education requirements.

Please note:
  • Challenge courses are not eligible for CEUs.
  • A course is not eligible for CEUs if “0” CEUs awarded and “0” contact hours appear on a digital certificate.
  • The IACET standard is that 10 contact hours equals 1 CEU. For example, the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course is 4.5 contact hours or 0.5 CEUs. However, some licensing/accreditation organizations may have a standard that 1 contact hour equals 1 CEU. Customers should check with their licensing/accreditation organizations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good class! The instructor was excellent. I wish they allowed more time so we could go more into depth with some of the first aid scenarios.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from In-person was much more informative than online This was my first First Aid/CPR course, and my experience was mixed. The online portion was terrible and confusing in places; for example the CPR portion says to 'open the airway, seal the airway, give two rescue breaths' - but no where was it explained what 'sealing' the airway actually meant. The instructor, on the other hand, was very informative, gave us practical advice, brought up things that weren't covered in the online course and really should have been (drowning! It was never covered in the online portion! How many people take this class for lifeguard duty???), encouraged and answered questions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear instruction - well run class. The hybrid option made it easier to fit the training around my other commitments. The instructor was great and there was a good opportunity to practice the hands on portion of the class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Educational and Fun Chet made this class a fun learning experience. Just the right amount of sharing of personal experiences without taking up too much time “talking about himself” (as we have all endured in the past). Chet made sure all participants were observed and included in demonstrations which is so important. Thank you Chet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Content and Process! I really enjoyed taking a lot of the class online, and then getting to practice the skills I learned in person at the course! It was informative, a good use of time, and prepared me for the situations I was hoping for! I also enjoyed my instructor's personal insight and answers to questions!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from User-friendly course Great way to gain this qualification on a tight schedule. Liked the online course's interactive nature, but became a bit repetitive towards the end. Weren't enough dummies to do the practical CPR skills on, but the instructor worked around this/will all of us to get the practice required.
