Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Instructor, Bad Location I enjoyed the teaching style of Steve Sumner very much. He gave a lot of insight and examples of situations from his experience as a police officer and trainer for the Red Cross. The building was inadequate. The doorbell did not work. The rooms were small. The location was hard to find, too. My name was not on the roster even though I registered two months prior to the class.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun instructor I enjoyed the class very much (I've been certified multiple times before). I thought Betty was a very good instructor. I think the "testing" portion was a little lax, however. In other classes I have been watched one-on-one before being passed. That did not occur, and there appeared (in my opinion) to be some people in the class who did not perform the tasks properly - that's not to say they couldn't learn them, but I think the one-on-one testing may have been of benefit to them imparticular.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just OK Several courses were combined into one classroom and the instructor didn't have a list of who had signed up for which course....so it was confusing as to who was there for which part of the course (Adult CPR/AED, Adult & Pediatric CPR, Emergency Medical Situations, etc). The entire course was 6 hours, but I had been told only 3 hours. Turns out my piece was only 3 hours, but the instructor never even mentioned that. I was there for Adult CPR/AED and 3 hours was a waste of my time. The key information was delivered in less than 1 hour, including practicing on the mannequin. I had to sit through a lot of stuff that I felt was mainly for the benefit of the people who has signed up for the other courses. If I did it again, I would do the combo class where you do some online yourself then finish up in the classroom.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Red Cross needs 21st century AV equipment I learned what I needed to, but the teacher didn't know how to operate the really old AV equipment. And when someone in the class helped him, it turned out you couldn't see anything on the very old tv anyway. If having a video is an important part of the teaching in the class, it would be helpful to have equipment that students can actually see. As it was, teacher just ended up reading some of the points (he could see the screen), but skipped over others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got my money's worth I took this course as a requirement for a job application but found that I got a lot out of it personally. Knowing what signs to look for and how to handle dire medical situations gives me a peace of mind when it comes to not only my clients but my friends and family as well. Knowing how important CPR is now in improving someone's chances of survival, I feel very good have been informed and taught these techniques.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cpr class certification I paid for this class believing that it would apply to my medical degree in school, only to find out afterwards that American red cross doesn't count as legitimate CPR education when you need it for health care education (nursing, radiology, sonography etc). You have to go through the American heart association. This class was almost $100 and it served no purpose for me unfortunately...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Rounded Course! I took the Adult CPR/AED course for a graduate school requirement, and it was so quick and easy to sign up! This cost is fair and I learned a lot thanks to the knowledgeable course instructor! I would highly recommend that everyone participates in a course through the American Red Cross, as these skills are indispensable and you never know when you'll need to use them!
