Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK The Red Cross can make some improvements. 1. Remind parents of details such as packing lunches. I remembered but am imagining others thinking of this detail at the last minute. 2. Confirm the correct end time. When I arrived, I was told the class would end 1 hour earlier. I had to shift schedules to make that work. 3. Perhaps set general agenda in advance. I thought my child would learn CPR but she didn't because she didn't weigh enough. However, my other child took this a few years ago at the same age/weight and she learned CPR. 4. Perhaps have a teacher that is a bit more engaging with kids. My daughter didn't feel a great connection and found the session to be more boring than informative. She is easily engaged in school - so the teacher makes all the difference. I would recommend but just because it is the only option I know of in town.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good class; learned a lot about caring for infants This was a really good class for many reasons 1) instructor was a good teacher and easy to understand 2) there was interactive activities in the class that made things easier to understand and learn instead of just watching a video or reading how to do it 3) the things I was afraid of doing such as picking up an infant (I was afraid I would drop it or pick it up in an uncomfortable position or not support its head) I can now do with confidence and ease 4) before this class I could care for older children but now I can care for infants as well 5) a lot of first aid was taught so now if there is an emergency I can stay calm and know what to do 6) you were sent home with A) a mini textbook that we used in the class B) a CD ROM that has additional features and C) a large pamphlet that tells you what to do for many many different types of emergencies that you can easily take to a babysitting job just in case

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of a day My daughter's Girl Scout troop spent seven hours sitting, with only a ten-minute break the entire day. The learning was passive, and as my daughter says, they could have read the book, answered the questions, and been done in a couple of hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This class was really fun! I liked the videos/ I took this class on Saturday and it was really fun. It helped me and now I know a lot of things I didn't know before. This was really helpful and the hands-on touch was great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible experience! Instructor worked all the way through lunch = 7 hours of sitting and lecture for 11 year olds. Teacher also let students out an hour earlier than published time, which created quite a stressful pick up situation for parents. REALLY disappointed in this class.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall, very educational! I learned so much in this class and had fun as well. All areas are covered, from caring for a baby to spotting hazards around the house to saving a child from choking. I also appreciate that we have more reading material from this class to reference later on and learn even more. My only complaint is that at certain times, watching the videos was a little boring and I would have like for more people to be in the class, but those are small details and don't really affect my experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Course! I was excited to take this course and I was greeted by a energetic teacher. I learned valuable information but as the course went on it got very laggy and I got tired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Thorough The course was very thorough; it covered medical issues, tackling behavior problems, kids' development, and the business aspect of babysitting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what we expected My daughter took the training class, which was not cheap ($89) and took all day on a Sunday. She learned some basic skills (how to hold a baby, change a diaper, etc.) which were mostly common sense. When she came home and told me that I had to sign her up for CPR certification separately and pay again, I was stunned. Shouldn't this be included in an all day, pricey babysitting class? Too bad I didn't know this ahead of time - we would have never wasted the time or money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great class for any pre-teen! This course was great and provided our child with a wealth of knowledge that she can use personally and not just when babysitting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Complete waist of money- dirty My daughter took this class. They sat and read a book 90 % of the time and watched videos. For the few minutes they had hands on learning... the materials were dirty and inappropriate. For example. A piece of cloth too small for the dirty ripped doll and movers tape were used for diaper training. There was a 10 year old in the room as well as dad who was forced to go. He was there for an hour and still received his certificate. The worst money I ever spent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Had a great time! I came to the Red Cross Babysitters Class and had a great time with everyone there. I mainly came because I had babysitted in the past and had wanted some extra knowledge. I learned a lot and had met a lot of new people in my table. I think that the breaks were nice and we had enough time to talk and get to be with other people. I think that sometimes it was hard to understand all of the information coming in a some I know I didn't agree with from my experience. I still have some questions that I know will come up later in my career in babysitting, but overall out of 10 I would give the class a 9 because it was not really how I expected it to be, a little more hands on things and I think it would be a little bit more interesting and more people would really get into it and be able to be responding in an emergency or other situations. Thank You

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Babysitting course The class was mostly watching videos. Lunch was almost an hour and the night there was also a few snack breaks. There was too much wasted time. My daughter didn't feel she learned enough in the class. Plus, she was told she would get a certificate at the end and she has NEVER received a certificate. She did say learning the CPR was a good thing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Class Different Each Time I will start this by saying it seems like my daughter got what she wanted from the class but I was not impressed for what we paid. The instructor was 30 minutes late to class to begin, then he ended class 3 hours earlier than what it said online. He said it was because he taught the class differently, that is a bit concerning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but missed a HUGE component I loved Going to this class. It was interesting and fun but I really I should've learned CPR for children. It can make all the difference and it’s an extremely important skill. It used to be part of this class and now it’s been taken out and it’s a big bummer. So now I have to go to a CPR course as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needs to be changed online. Does not reflect omiss The online description includes CPR and first aid. This was not included in class. It also said online class would last until 4:30 but it ended at 3. There should be a refund for the price since it's mis represented online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great class for youth! I am glad I purchased this class for my daughters birthday. She loves to babysit. Knowing safety of little ones and what to do in an emergency, is a great way to prepare you for the babysitting world.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hype for babysitting I thought the class was extremely helpful and informative. Very long and you’ll need a large lunch. Everything was good but the videos were very dated and so weee the instructors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Baby sitting I registered three of my grandchildren, Bella Lafloure, Kaili Bullet and Sarah Baisden and received certificates for Sarah Baisden only. Please email certificates for all the girls.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I liked it that we practiced on each other. I really liked how the video showed us how to deal with situations, although it might have been a little more helpful to go through more problems with behavior, than with injuries.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money. Our daughter attended this course and now has the confidence and skill to operate her own babysitting service. At 12 years old, she enjoyed this course. We would recommend!
