Rated 2 out of 5 by from Kicked off SO many times! Not happy with the website! My daughter got kicked off so many times. She obviously did this course over a period of a few days and every time she would get on to take a lesson she would get kicked off. It did give some good info, but getting kicked off so many times and then having to log in again and again became frustrating for her. I don't think I would recommend this course because kids need to be able to keep their focus without getting kicked off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from extremely frustrating, still don't have certificate My daughter took the course and it was extremely frustrating, we still don't have a certificate and I have spent 2 hours on hold and with customer service. There are 6 sections to complete to get the certificate. She couldn't just complete 1 or 2 and come back and resume at section 3. It would have her start all over at the beginning every time. I talked to several different support people with no success. She had to take the course in 1 sitting. She had to spend 5+ hours in a row to complete the course so she didn't have to start over at the beginning. She finally finished the course and received an email that it was successful and the status is successful but have NO certificate. Every time I get online to get a certificate it says Error.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Many technical dificulties The content of the course was useful. And the customer service representatives that we talked with several times were helpful. But the online platform for this class was terrible! My daughter finished session and earn a badge, only to log in later and find the badges gone. She repeated the sessions so many times. She even had to take the final exam numerous times before we were finally able to print her completion certificate. Again the customer service people were helpful, but we had to call and email way too many times. I would recommend this class if taken in person, but not take it online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covered all the basics My 13 year old son took this course. He liked it because he could do it at his own pace and at home. It's a good class for self motivated people who want to learn basics. He also took the first aid/cpr course on line. Reviews below are from 13 year old boy perspective

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detailed for an online course I had my daughter take this online class and was surprised, in a good way, at the detail that it provided. It was also reassuring that it was in a format acceptable and relateable to students in her age group.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Challenging Internet Access! I purchased this course, basic babysitting, for my granddaughter to take. The course itself was fine, but access was a real challenge. The confirming e-mail had a link to the training, which worked the first time I used it to finish registering. The next time it directed me to a site that my virus program warned was a scam and that asked for "unusual" informaton. I had to call in for help, and they gave me an entirely different web site to use for the class. They really need to fix this issue as it was very frustrating working through the challenges to get to the course so she could actually complete it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good info - bad program Way too many freeze-ups and glitches in this program, my daughter had to re-do several chapters due to the program freezing up and having to close it out, then re-enter. It then made her answer questions that she had already done, and it took her triple the amount of time it should have taken. It was very frustrating. I have a new Mac computer that runs great so it wasn't computer issues. My daughter was unable to take the final exam, however I received an email with her "certificate of completion" even though she was unable to complete the course because it kept freezing up. A refund would be great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing babysitting course!!! I am so glad I took the American Red Cross Online Babysitting Basics Course! It was amazing. I learned so much from the course and I feel like a much better babysitter. I am much more confident to babysit, and I have gotten more jobs since I have taken this course. I think people will be more likely to hire me!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fantastic Collection of Information Presented Well This was a fantastic presentation of important topics for our daughter as she begins her babysitting career. It was so interesting, she'd like to take the next class. The technical end of the program was problematic- the four hour course took over 10 hours for her-- videos didn't load properly and she was logged off repeatedly and had to retake tests over and over because her results were not recorded.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Abysmal software and poor proof reading of course Some of the review material would not work, live action video buffering frequency and duration was insane (I have a 240Mb connection, so it definitely wasn't that), text would refer to the main character by multiple names, and other quality issues. Also, the site seems to believe that it is ok for my thirteen year old to register and have her own credit card. I understand that some adults may benefit from this class as well, but it is clearly geared towards the kids who are most likely the main customers. So why doesn't the site allow parents to make an account and register each child under it? The course material was decent at least, once you ignore the deficiencies above. I expect _much_ better from the Red Cross, though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good program but too many technical difficulties The information presented in the course is engaging and well organized. However, my daughter has attempted to complete the course twice, and each time her progress disappears after she completes the first five modules. This is very frustrating and creates a great sense of futility. We called online support and the technician was kind but her advice was that pop-ups needed to be activated on our laptop. However, this did not fix the issue. (My husband is a network administrator, so we were not without informed at-home trouble-shooting.) The first time my daughter tried to complete the program, she worked over three sessions. After the first session, she logged back in and picked up where she left off at Module 3. After the second session, she tried to log back in to complete Modules 5 and 6, but all of her progress on the previous modules was gone. Her only option was to begin the entire program again. She did begin again, and tried to power straight through, but during the middle of Module 6 the website failed and when she logged back in, all of her progress for Modules 1-5 had disappeared. Her only option at this point is to begin again - with no guarantee that she will be able to complete the course. While the course material is good, the technology needs to be examined and updated. Even if the website experiences difficulties in the middle of one module, the progress made on previous modules should be saved. We are giving up without a certificate - it's just too frustrating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful preparation! I enjoyed this course very much. I believe it has prepared me very well for babysitting. I have not started the search yet for babysitting jobs, (I would like more experience first) but I feel comfortable that when I do babysit, I will know how to take care of younger kids and many situations that may happen while doing so. I liked how the videos were short, but to the point. I also liked how they demonstrated how to, for example, pick up an infant. In a nutshell, I have enjoyed this course, and my experience with the American Red Cross.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Class was good Class went fine but signing up and getting the certificate were terrible! My daughter actually had to take part or all of the class at least 3 times before the program would register her progress. Program definitely needs some work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from mty babysitting basics I did this course about 2 weeks ago and I am happy that I did it because it makes me feel more confident, ready, and prepared for my new job. It also makes me feel much more professional and proper because I have done this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Experience I bought this class to train myself to be a babysitter. My only negative comment on this is I would have loved to see more instruction on what to do if you (the babysitter) gets injured. Some suggestions include how to perform the self-heimlach, how to perform basic first aid on yourself, and what to do you are severely injured and cannot access the kids. Everything else went amazingly. If you are taking this course, I suggest taking notes and making flash cards. Those really helped me in the end while studying for the final exam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great information and easy to use I purchased this for my daughter in advance of her first baby-sitting job. She absolutely loved it and learned a great deal. Every topic one could thing of was covered. She liked that the information was visual and interactive. She has clearly retained what she learned so it is an effective learning tool and convenient, too. I hope more course offerings for tweens and teens are offered in the future!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing online experiance I purchased the babysitter course for my 12 year old. The site was difficult to navigate through the tasks. I had to keep restarting the course each time as it would not save as she completed parts of the course. At the end it told her she received her certificate even through she still had two last modules. Overall the coursework was meaningful and important but again the online experience was less than stellar.
