Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Instructor Instructor was great, and well versed in the material, also great at communicating and being available to answer further questions. However the pool was not conducive to a learning environment for this particular course. Not enough supplies, and a lot of the safety equipment at the pool was broken or not working. Also, not everything was covered in the time it needed to be covered. For example, we had approximately 1.5 hours to learn everything about administering emergency oxygen, then were tested on the material directly afterwards by another instructor who prompted us with incorrect answers, which effected many of our test scores.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Course content vs Course Final Exam I have taken this course many times. I continue to find that the material taught in the course content is different than the course final exam. While all the course content is important and valuable, the test does reflect the importance that we as coaches/instructors need to have in the forefront of our profession. I would also like to ADD that I spent 3 hours on the first part of the course and the next day went to finish the course and NO WHERE could I find the work I had done. Moving through the website is cumbersome and does seems to flow smoothly PLUS I had to start from the beginning and take the course all at one time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Technology Nightmare! I took this course in order to satisfy the requirement by the state for coach's certification. The program was user friendly, however, there were many technical glitches. I completed the first section and was proceeding to the second section when the program "timed out" and my progress was lost. When attempting another day, on a different computer, I was unable to complete lesson 3 as the program would not allow me to answer the last question of the quiz despite logging on and off multiple times. For an already long course, this took more time than needed to complete given the setbacks I had along the way. The content was repetitive and I felt over done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible set up I started taking this course last March. It was very very difficult to register and had to make multiple phone calls to the red cross. I told my fellow coaches and they’ve all had the same issues with various Red Cross courses. I thought I had completed the course, but after a fire in our pool where the coaches office was destroyed, I went back to find my certificate. It said that I had not completed the course. I couldn’t believe that I had to take the course AGAIN!! Then when my neighborhood electricity went out in the middle of me taking it and having completed over 2 chapters, I went back in and nothing had saved. Now for the third time, I had to start AGAIN. Unbelievable!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Technical issues It was an OK training. I thought the chapters were a little too short and in the scenarios the coach almost always was making mistakes-came off as preachy and upset me by the end. Technically it was a nightmare and wasted a lot of time. I completed the review of information then took the test three times because it kept sending me there when I'd check status. After taking the test I received a score noting my certificate would be approved. It never was and when I called support they indicated I hadn't started the course. They had no solution and I had to argue for credit. Very clunky system

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Online Training Nightmare! I enrolled in Safety training for coaches, spent over an hour completing all 4 sections and ready to take the test when I got kicked out. When I logged back in, there was no record of what I had completed and I had to start all over. When I called customer support, they basically said to bad for you, start over. If it is not bad enough that I had this experience, all 4 coaches on my team who needed to update this certification experienced the same thing. I am disappointed that an organization the calibur of Red Cross does not have a better online platform and is not willing to help correct the problem. So Disappointing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Course fine, tech awful The course itself was fine and informative. Pretty much what you would expect and need from this course. The tech was AWFUL. I had to go through the course twice for it to show up as completed, even though I had taken the final test, which was marked as completed. Even after that I did not receive my certificate. Thankfully, I had printed out the page that said each portion was completed and the page that popped up with my final exam score. I was able to email those to customer service and they sent me my certificate. But had I not printed those out, I would have had to take the test yet again before they issued my certificate, which I had to submit for my coaching membership.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adequate, if too long The course covers the relevant and important information. Some of the information needed to answer the questions in the quizzes and the exam was not formally presented in the course. To be fair it was in the supplemental information links, but if it was important enough to be tested it should have been in the main course. The course was 3 hours long without the supplemental information and that's a lot of time for what was covered. Additionally, there was considerable overlap with the life guarding course and first aid. Since certification as a swim coach (at least for my team) requires a valid life guard and first aid certificate, it would be nice to have a shorter course with less overlap.
