The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.​ The American Red Cross Massachusetts Region is part of the largest and most diverse service organization in the United States, serving the 6.6 million residents of the 351 cities and towns of Massachusetts.

You will run 26.2 miles through the city from Hopkinton to Boston, knowing that with every mile crossed and every dollar raised, you can help us deliver our humanitarian mission. We work to help build a deep connection with your fellow runners and support each runner with the Red Cross mission.

The fundraising minimum for Team Red Cross runners is set at $10,000 for every runner that receives a bib through the charity.

Once we are able to review all applications, we will then conduct phone interviews. Once our process is complete, each runner must register with the BAA when the charity registration begins. We will guide all of our runners through this process. 

Yes! If you receive a bib through the BAA, we still ask those runners to raise $2,500, but they will be a member of the team.

When you register with the  BAA as a charity runner, the BAA charges you $395 race application fee that does not count towards your fundraising minimum.

We help runners fundraise through an online site called GivenGain. This site allows family and friends to donate to your cause and helps you reach your fundraising goal. The Red Cross also provides fundraising tips and tricks along the way to help you with your goal.

When registering with Team Red Cross, you are committing to personally give and/or fundraise to support the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross. If you do not reach the fundraising minimum, you are authorizing the Red Cross to charge the difference to the credit card provided.

You may decline or cancel your participation with the Team Red Cross Boston Marathon team, waiving your responsibility for the minimum, within 48 hours of being offered a spot on our team. If you cancel within the 48 hour time period, you will be refunded your $100 deposit. To decline or cancel, you must contact the Team Red Cross Manager at the American Red Cross of Massachusetts in writing within the required time period. If unforeseen circumstances occur and you wish to cancel your participation between the time you accept and three months in advance of the marathon, the American Red Cross of Massachusetts will make every effort to find a replacement from our waiting list. If the American Red Cross of Massachusetts is unable to secure a suitable replacement, you are responsible for fulfilling the $10,000 fundraising minimum. No donations accepted by our office will be refunded.

An average of 90 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in delivering care and comfort to those in need. Everything we do depends on the needs of the people that we serve.
