Fight For Frank Blood Drive
The Potter’s House and United MegaCare are partnering with the American Red Cross North Texas Region for a blood drive supporting Potter’s House Frank Dyer, who is battling myelodysplastic syndrome.
The “Fight for Frank” blood drive will occur on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in the ballroom of The Potter’s House campus in Dallas at 6777 West Kiest Blvd., Dallas, TX 75236, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make your appointment, please visit RedCrossBlood.org and use the sponsor code “pottershousedallas.”
Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), formerly referred to as pre-leukemia, is a rare group of blood cancers that causes the abnormal development of blood cells in bone marrow.
Patients like Frank who need transfusions are more likely to find a compatible blood match from a donor of a similar race or ethnicity. About half of all African Americans in the U.S. have type O blood, which is the most transfused blood type.
All presenting donors will receive a $20 gift card by email, thanks to Amazon. First-time donors will receive a Red Cross t-shirt while supplies last.
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
