The American Red Cross strives to build strong and sustainable relationships with diverse communities in Los Angeles County to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. In our efforts to promote preparedness in local communities, listed below are available services for event participation and on-site trainings/ presentations.

To effectively staff events and support American Red Cross preparedness and outreach efforts, events received with less than 30 days’ notice cannot be honored, unless otherwise stated. We appreciate your understanding in ensuring that we plan for the best staffing and service for your event. Thank you.

Please Note: For the safety of American Red Cross personnel, Preparedness Services must be conducted in secure public venues and may not be conducted on sidewalks, in front of private property, or in store parking lots. Thank you for your cooperation.

General Red Cross Info booth – Trained Red Cross Volunteers provide preparedness and safety literature, including PrepareSoCal materials, and education on Red Cross programs, services and volunteering! Events typically include booths at community fairs. Table and chairs must be provided by the event host. A minimum of 100 event attendees required.



Audience: Adults 18+, youth 6th -12th grade and seniors

Preparedness Presentations – Trained Red Cross Subject Matter Experts present basic preparedness information. Presentations are approximately 45 minutes to one hour and the audience is expected to remain present throughout. Presentations are organized sponsored events (i.e “lunch n’ learn). Available presentations include: PrepareU, PrepareTEENS, PrepareSeniors. A minimum of 20 individuals and available seating are required for each audience member.



Audience: Children in 3rd – 5th grade

General Red Cross Info booth – Is a one-hour program for children in 3rd through 5th grade. This interactive program will teach kids what to do in fires or earthquakes, coping skills for stressful situations, and general preparedness information. They will receive a workbook of preparedness activities, and a Disney pillowcase to decorate at the end of the presentation. This program is sponsored by Disney. A minimum of 20 individuals and available seating are required for each audience member.



Audience: Adults interested in putting together a neighborhood preparedness program

Map Your Neighborhood Program – This program will teach individuals the first 9 Steps to take immediately following a disaster to secure your home and protect your neighborhood. Individuals will go through a two hour facilitator training were you will learn how to implement this program in your neighborhood.A minimum of 20 individuals and available seating are required for each audience member.

Current facilitators can also request materials for their program.



Audience: Adults

Community CPR and First Aid – We offer a discounted CPR and First Aid class to some select audiences. Typically, these are community groups based in low-income areas, ESL, high school students and seniors. With this program, participants will be certified in just Adult CPR and First Aid (not AED or Infant CPR) for two years, at an extremely discounted price of $5 per participant. This program is very limited, and is taught by our Americorps team who serve through a portion of the year. We cannot guarantee requests can be fulfilled. A minimum of 10 (max of 30) individuals and available seating for each request.

This program is only available from September through June.

PrepareKIDS Puppet Show – Red Cross Youth Volunteers perform a live puppet show for elementary aged children. Puppet shows are approximately 30 minutes and the audience is expected to remain seated throughout the entire show. Locations typically include libraries and elementary schools. Alternate locations may be approved at the discretion of the Community and Volunteer Engagement Youth and Young Adults team. A minimum of 20 children and an available electricity outlet and a 10x10 foot space are required.
