The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter works with school teachers, administrators, parents and students to educate youth about what they need to do to get prepared for disaster. The Red Cross supports disaster preparedness education in schools with turn-key programs and curriculum that makes getting ready for disaster simple.

Be Red Cross Ready Onsite Training

Red Cross preparedness trainers can conduct preparedness trainings for your staff, PTA organization, scout troop or school assembly. Trainings typically last 45 minutes and can be tailored to the age, size and demographic of your group. Programs are available that use the Sesame Street Let’s Get Ready! and Red Cross Masters of Disaster curriculum. Be Red Cross Ready One-Minute Preparedness Announcements

Prepare Your School with the basics of emergency preparedness – in just one minute a day, over the course of 10 days. Download the Be Red Cross Ready One-Minute Preparedness Announcements and complete the agreement to receive a prize for your school. Then just follow the scripts to deliver emergency preparedness training to your entire school quickly and easily.

Sesame Street Let’s Get Ready! Curriculum (pre-school)

Designed especially for pre-school aged children, Let’s Get Ready! Planning Together for Emergencies from Sesame Workshop provides tips, activities and other easy tools to help the whole family prepare for emergencies together. Masters of Disaster Curriculum (K-8)

The award-winning Masters of Disaster, disaster preparedness curriculum teaches children how to prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and other emergencies. The Masters of Disaster Educator's Kit contains lessons, activities and demonstrations on disaster-related topics that youth-serving organizations can incorporate into daily or thematic programming. The Masters of Disaster curriculum materials meet national educational standards and are specifically tailored for lower elementary (K–2), upper elementary (3–5) and middle school (6–8) classes.
