Preparing Our Communities
Installing smoke alarms in our communities.
As part of the Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign, we have been going out to communities across our region to install free smoke alarms and provide emergency preparedness education to residents. Our region had the opportunity to witness the importance of this campaign first hand during our tremendously successful 9/11 Day of Service in Hartford and Willimantic. Around 200 Red Crossers came out to help install more than 655 smoke alarms in the community during that weekend in September. It was an inspiring day for all of us to help provide education and resources to those who need it the most.
