Gary’s Red Cross Story
Being a board member and contributor to the American Red Cross South Florida region has been an incredible experience, especially in view of the organization’s humanitarian mission. Sound the Alarm touches all of us. Being able to educate our community about home fire safety and install free smoke detectors at high risk homes is a rewarding and impactful experience everyone should consider having. As a husband and father of two children, I remember the awesome responsibility I had to establish a safe and protected home. There are so many families in our community that still need this safeguard today. My work as a volunteer board member, side by side other experienced community leaders has also been a privilege. I hope to maintain these lasting friendships for a very long time and motivate others to give back to our community as well.

Join the movement

Every day, seven people lose their lives due to home fires, most in homes that lack working smoke alarms. That’s why the Red Cross rallied an army of volunteers and launched our Home Fire Campaign in 2014. This fall, Red Cross and community volunteers along with our partners will install 100,000 free smoke alarms in high risk neighborhoods nationwide including Little Haiti, Homestead, Miami Gardens and Little Havana.

Gary invites you to join the movement.
