Kathie Edwards was recognized as one of our very own American Red Cross of Greater Kansas City heroes. She has given 40 years of her time and talent to teach water safety to those within our community as well as those responsible for being a lifeguard or instructor. The aquatics program celebrated its 100 Years of Water Safety Campaign in 2014, and Kathie has been instrumental in our community for 40 years as Aquatics Manager. She has taught the Learn-to-Swim program to adults and children 6 months and older to assure their competency skills while in the water. Our campaign goal was to lower drownings by 50 percent in 50 states. Kathie made a huge impact on that goal.
Congratulations Kathie on your 40 years of commitment to the safety and preparedness training of our Aquatics Program. Her endless act of providing swimming lessons, and lifeguard, swim coach and instructor training throughout Kansas City is priceless!
