  • Red Cross Rochester Youth Leadership


The Youth Leadership Program (YLP) of the Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross was created for the purpose of developing high achieving and diverse young leaders across Monroe County at the high school level. Through this FREE program, Youth learn essential Leadership, Life Skills and Service Skills that they can take back to their homes, schools, community and utilize in support of Red Cross’ mission. Unlike a traditional classroom, students will experience a more interactive experience through weekly workshops and field trips, allowing for real-life exposure and a more hands-on approach.

  • Improve self-awareness and personal confidence
  • Experience development in diverse topics
  • Experience and participate in American Red Cross mission-based service projects
  • Learn about career and volunteer opportunities at the American Red Cross
  • Network with local Community Leaders and Red Cross Staff/Volunteers
  • Experience organizations in the local community through field trips
  • Knowledge to start a Red Cross Club in their school
  • Opportunity to gain community service hours required for graduation
Previous Session Topics have included but are not limited to:
Self-Awareness, Public Speaking, Conversational Skills, Project Management, Resume Building, Preparedness and Disaster Services, Government and Blood Services.


Youth 9-12th grade actively enrolled in a Monroe County High School


  • Wednesdays Afterschool, Fall through Spring
  • Location: Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross- 50 Prince Street, Rochester, New York 14607- Alternate Sites/Field Trips TBA


  • Must have at least a 2.5 GPA or equivalent on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must have satisfactory school attendance
  • Must have a willingness to take on a volunteer role in their school and/or community
