Become A Volunteer Today!

Red Cross volunteers turn compassion into action through a diverse array of programs and services. Whether it’s a single home fire or global conflict, we respond with food, shelter and care.

We provide nearly half the nation’s blood, open lines of communication between U.S. military members and their families, and empower the community to respond during times of crisis by providing training in first aid and CPR/AED.

Every day, your generous donation of time supports our crucial services. You are essential to our work.

Volunteer Opportunities

American Red Cross

Disaster Cycle Services

Help individuals and communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. Teach people in classrooms, organizations and communities how to be Red Cross Ready or participate in our national Home Fire Preparedness Campaign by installing smoke alarms. Become a Disaster Action Team volunteer and respond directly to disasters by providing families with emergency assistance; or by supporting them on their road to recovery by becoming a Client Services Caseworker.

Service to the Armed Forces

Service To Armed Forces (SAF)

Knowing in advance that military families will be able to reach their loved ones, and have access to financial and other types of assistance provides piece of mind to families who are separated. Volunteers can help the Red Cross provide follow-up to emergency communications for military members and their families; outreach through SAF programs like “Get to Know Us Before You Need Us” or resiliency training; or work with nearby Veterans Affairs medical facilities through the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Services (VAVS) program.

Northeast Ohio Red Cross Volunteer - Blood Services

Blood Services

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood and the Red Cross is here to collect, process, and distribute blood and blood products to meet the needs of patients across the country. Blood Donor Ambassadors engage with blood donors to assist them through the collection process and to foster a commitment to regular blood donations. Additional volunteer opportunities include becoming a Transportation Specialist, delivering life-saving blood supplies to laboratories and medical facilities.

Health and Safety Classes

Preparedness Health and Safety

For over 50 years, the Red Cross has been teaching our communities how to swim, provide first aid, and administer CPR. Volunteer Instructors train first-responders, babysitters and others who want to be prepared to help others in an emergency and save lives.

American Red Cross

International Services

The global Red Cross network has national societies in 189 countries that shelter those left homeless by disaster, reconnect families separated by war, and bring basic health services to those who need them. Volunteers help educate students and adults about global humanitarian issues and laws that protect civilians and combatants during times of war and armed conflict.

Connect with your community by assisting your local chapter in completing necessary administrative tasks. Volunteer as a chapter receptionist or help various departments with behind the scenes work.
