Lynn Edwards, a McAlester, Oklahoma native, is the Executive Director of South Central & Southeast Oklahoma Chapter of the American Red Cross for the past four and half years.
He is a graduate Oklahoma Christian University and has a Master’s Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is a graduate of the OU/OSU Executive Management School and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business Executive Leadership School.
He brings a wealth of experience to the Red Cross having worked in the banking industry for more than 30 years. While serving the banking industry, he was active in community development filling board positions as Vice President of Economic development, President of the chamber, President of Boys & Girls Club, Chairman of Eastern Oklahoma College Foundation, Chairman Pittsburg County Regional Exposition Authority, and Chairman McAlester Foundation for Industrial Development during the completion of the McAlester Campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College.
He began his fundraising career at Oklahoma Christian University as a development officer for four years. Following that he was the chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of McAlester for six years and was selected as the CPO of the Year for the Southwest Region of Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
He continues to have an acute love for teaching having served as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma City Community College, St Louis Community College, Oklahoma Christian University, and Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Edwards served ten years in the U.S. Army Reserve achieving the rank of Captain. He was awarded the Army Reserve Achievement Medal for leadership while assigned to Headquarters of the 102nd ARCOM in St Louis, Mo. He served most of his career as a Company Commander in the 95th Division USAR located in Oklahoma before moving to Missouri.
Edwards enjoys hunting and fishing, but spends most of his leisure time on a small farm or with his wife and seven grandchildren.
He currently travels Oklahoma meeting and speaking with community leaders to insure they know the mission of the American Red Cross and how to collaborate with staff and volunteers during times of disaster.
