Disaster Services are some of the most vital and visible responsibilities the Red Cross undertakes. From home fires in Southeastern Pennsylvania to wildfires and tornadoes in the Midwest and hurricanes up the East Coast, the American Red Cross is always there. Your support helps us provide 24-hour emergency response, immediate relief, and invaluable recovery assistance to disaster victims.
From July 2010 to June 2012, the Red Cross in Southeastern Pennsylvania responded to 733 disasters and assisted 1,042 families in the five-county Philadelphia region. Our volunteers provided on-site food, shelter, direct financial support, and emotional support to individuals and families devastated by their losses. And at our pioneering Red Cross House, nearly 950 adults and children found refuge, meals, and social services to help them reclaim and rebuild their lives.
