Columbia, SC, October 9, 2015 — The American Red Cross today announced that the Dominion Foundation, on behalf of Dominion Carolina Gas Transmission, has donated $25,000 and 40,000 bottles of water, 100 cases of gallon jugs of water and thousands of baby supplies including food, diapers and wipes to American Red Cross Disaster Relief to support South Carolina flood relief efforts.
The American Red Cross has mounted a massive relief operation to help people affected by historic flooding and rainfall in South Carolina. More than 24 inches of rain have fallen in parts of South Carolina – one of the most extensive and intense periods of rain in the history of the Southeast United States. Tens of thousands of people have been impacted. So far, the Red Cross has opened 30 shelters across South Carolina and deployed 23 Emergency Response Vehicles to assist with feeding and supply needs. More than 500 volunteers from all across the nation have been mobilized to assist relief efforts.
