The American Red Cross Northwest Region is seeking dedicated young individuals who are eager to make a difference to participate in its Summer Youth Program on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. This is a unique program that allows teens exposure to the workplace, experience in a medical setting, and the opportunity to give back to the military community by volunteering their time during the summer within Madigan Army Medical Center. If selected, participants will be placed in participating departments and clinics within Madigan Army Medical Center and will help fulfill volunteer roles.
“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our program this year to accommodate more youth than ever before,” said Kris Mather, program manager for the American Red Cross Northwest Region Service to the Armed Forces. “This year, we’re opening new doors, embracing fresh opportunities, and nurturing the growth of our nation’s young heroes.”
The Summer Youth Program will begin July 8th, 2024, and will conclude on August 22nd, 2024, with a Youth Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. Participants will volunteer a minimum of 8 hours a week and a maximum of 40 a week with their assigned department or clinic for a minimum of 5 weeks. It is important to remember that spaces are limited and are based on the number of volunteers requested by hospital personnel; therefore, all applications must be completed and submitted by June 10th, 2024.
To be eligible for this enriching opportunity, applicants must be between the ages of 14 to 17 and possess a valid Military ID Card. This program is an excellent chance for youth to gain valuable experience, learn new skills, and give back to their military community.
