Alexis Harrington experienced a severe postpartum hemorrhageafter delivering her twins in November 2022. The Hooksett, New Hampshire mom, requireda Jada device, designed to rapidly treat postpartumhemorrhage, to stop the bleeding and needed a blood transfusion tosurvive.

On a clear Tuesday morning a quarter century ago, millions of Americans watchedin shock as the events of September 11, 2001, unfolded. As families searchedfor answers and communities struggled to comprehend thetragedy, American Red Cross volunteers across the country steppedforward to help. Among them were Northern New Englanders JulieLastowka, Sue Steinhurst, Donna Hastings,Starr Gilmartin, Lizzie Baker and Cheri Lundblad.The experiences of these six women during and after9/11 would not only shape their lives, but also inspire decadesof service.
